How are Kornegay Design's site furnishings and cast concrete products notably different?
The founding purpose of Kornegay Design was to provide well-designed and finely crafted site furnishings and site amenities that enhance public architectural and landscape environments for decades. Our clients often comment on our beautiful designs, superb craftsmanship, and excellent customer service.
Our concrete surfaces are luxuriously smooth and dense.
We achieve this result by mixing a separate concrete batch for each piece and then filling the mold by hand. This by-hand casting process allows us to add less water and make our concrete mix very dense. This manufacturing technique also requires less water than is needed in the typical pre-cast method of using a batch plant and results in little wasted concrete. We have developed a proprietary mix that facilitates the structural and surface quality of our products and it also includes recyclable material.
The quality of our molds also contributes to the fine surface quality of our products.
Our concrete performs in extreme weather environments.
Our proprietary concrete mix includes products that increase their durability in places with high freeze-thaw cycles. In addition, since our concrete is manufactured with less water it is more frost resistant than concrete made with higher water content. Annually we check with clients living in extreme weather environments who have our products and so far none have reported cracks that impair structural integrity.
What is our lead time for creating site amenities? How can you help us?
We are often asked this question and we try to keep lead times as short as possible. Lead time varies depending on the scope of the project. Eight to Sixteen weeks is average, for small to large orders, respectively. You can help by telling us which general and or landscape subcontractor receives the project and your estimate of when they will be needed on site. We will follow-up with the contractors to remind them to order from us in time to get the products to the site on time.
We love integrally colored concrete. We can make custom colors.
Integrally colored concrete is one of the best choices for heavy traffic areas. The color will not chip off, nor will it fade. We feature Davis Colors on our web site, however, you can specify colors from other major manufacturers. Because of our casting by-hand process you can specify as many colors as you want in a single order-there is no additional cost for multiple colors.
If you would like to discuss color options, please call or e-mail us.
We do not have site furnishing distributors or local sales reps.
We enjoy working directly with our clients. We do not manufacture inventory. Orders are custom-cast according to the specification choices such as color and drainage hole size. Please contact us to answer your questions. We are strictly a trade-supplier.
Would you like to see our site furnishings in person?
We keep a list of our work in public spaces throughout the United States. Contact us with your location and we can direct you sites in your area. Each year we exhibit at the American Society of Landscape Architects Conference and EXPO, please come by and visit us.
What about custom site furnishings or custom sizes?
We can make custom site furnishings. The best situation is where 20 or more items are needed. At this quantity the price is within the range of our product line. Lead time on custom orders is longer due to the time needed to make the mold.
Would you like product literature?
Call or e-mail us and we will send you our latest brochure and a Davis Concrete color selector brochure. Contact us to receive a budgetary quote that includes packing and freight. Once you are on our mailing list we will send you product literature only upon request or if we have a new catalog.
